"You can Preach, you can Quote, you can even insult me- But My Opinion is My Opinion and I'm not going to change my mind just because you think I'm wrong."
My thoughts today, when thinking about a.. shall we say discussion I was having with a deviant about one of my very old deviations. I did not say this to this person, but I thought it would make a good stamp.
If you're curious, it was about, as I said, an old deviation. Based on a quote by my brother, it said "I gave God the finger (but he so totally deserved it.)" Just white text on black, bumper sticker style. I was told "this is just sickening, just wait, and you'll get what's coming to you" Gut instinct told me not to reply, but my ego told me that was a wussy idea and I needed to justify myself and make my opinion be heard. So, I replied with "I'm sorry it offends you, like it says in the artist comments (if you had read them) I didn't say it, my brother did and I thought it was kinda funny. And, I don't think I'll get what's coming to me cause I don't think anything's coming to me. Even when I was a Catholic, I didn't like the whole Hell and Heaven idea, I didn't believe it. If there is a God, Jesus preached a forgiving one, (see, I went to Catholic school) and I'll be forgiven. It's just a stupid old joke anyway." That flipped a switch. "you can't just choose what parts of the Holy Bible to ignore! it's there whether you Like it or not!" Okay, did any pick up on the 'Even when I was a Catholic' part? Wouldn't you take that as I'm not anymore? So I clarified. "I don't "choose" which parts, I ignore all of it. Since I made my First Communion, I've been an Atheist. That day, after I made communion, I came home and threw up and in the mind of a third grader that didn't register as hunger and wine aggravating my stomach, I took it as "Well if God doesn't want me, I don't want him." Since then, I know better but I also think hating gays because they're gay, heaven and hell, abortion rights decided by the church not by the woman, earth being the only planet the can sustain life- stop me anytime, I think half of it's unethical and the other half insane. Sure there might be good morals in it, but the religion just isn't for me." I think that was mature don't you? I'm not being aggressive or anything and I honestly didn't expect a response. I got one. "You are wrong." That I kind of rolled my eyes at. Can't I just have my own views? This is why I don't talk religion with people, unless they're rational. "I might be, I might not. Either way, it doesn't matter to me and has no effect on how I live my life." Which is the honest truth, I really don't care about God or any religion. It intrigues me, sure, I'd like to learn about it but I could care less if It's real or not. All of that, the miracles, Jesus, Moses, The Burning Bush, Noah's Ark, all of it happened thousands of years ago. It has no effect on us. "then you will regret once you die and Have to face God" I did not reply and don't intend to reply. I already said I don't believe in heaven. What more can I say? (and I urge you not to say anything) Sometimes, talking to religious people is like punching yourself in the face- It's stupid, and it gets you no where and you're thinking ...why did I do this in the first place?
Sorry for the italics and the regular type, I figured it would be easier to differentiate between the Conversation and my commentary if I did that.
This stamp isn't just for religion though- if you're still reading. It can adapt to anyone who's been talked out of their opinion or something. Or just if you agree with it.
edit, it turns out my brother had something to say on the matter. he replied to her last post, the one I had nothing to say to: "Yo. I'm the brother she mentioned.
Hey, you know what's sickening? You idiot God freaks trying to impose this stupid belief on everyone whether they want it in their life or not. People who don't even want anything to do with you and you just barge into their lives.
One; it's rude. How would you like it if someone just came in your house and started preaching the wonders of science? ("BUT MINE'S ACTUALLY RIGHT! WAAH!" Whatever.)
Two; come on, now. If you agree with the slightest thing the Bible says you have to believe the whole thing? Please. The Bible says a lot of stuff; even a chronic liar still tells the truth sometimes, especially if it suits them.
Three; when I was in Catholic school, I tried to believe like everyone else and was hated by the other kids, the teachers, the priests. I didn't do anything wrong, but I was poor and apparently you need a minimum cash limit to get into the Cool Kid's Club. One that is also the world's biggest scam, worthy of something out of 1984. The more I tried to believe, the more I supported "HIM," the worse I suffered for it. He never did me a lick of good. Even when I was Catholic, my entire life has been a marathon of bad luck. I'm an atheist now and better off for it. This free will thing? The independence from some invisible space grandpa? You should try it sometime. Isn't there something in the Constitution that says "freedom of religion," or lack thereof?
Four; you know how flimsy this whole lie is anyway? My brother showed a Catholic the documentary Zeitgeist and it opened his eyes. Contrarily, I've never gone back to religion. Most people are moving away from it. Religion is dying in this world, and rightly so, since people are getting smarter. It's you religious freaks that start all the wars. How long until you're the ones running around with dynamite belts yelling, "JESUS!" Bye, bye, Eiffel Tower.
And facing God? Pfft. Even though the actual evidence points to science, no one knows for sure, but we'll both find out eventually. We'll see who actually is right someday. So spin that roulette wheel, preferably the Russian kind if you really wanna know. And ask yourself this:
Do you feel lucky? Punk?
(And don't you dare go after my sister again.)" after he finished typing and sent it, he sighed and said "Well, that's all I have to say on that subject." I was grinning like "ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY? That's like a page man!"
haha nice song title. And I'll listen to it later.
Nope. I don't really remember us ever discussing religion. Except when you told me you were an atheist, cause Nick thought it was my fault and I was like "I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. DON'T ASSUMEEE." A proud moment in our friendship. Seriously, that memory sticks vividly in my mind and probably always will. Two totally cool shocks at once. Ah, memories.
I hate it when people do that, think that they are the only ones with thoughts.
I'm Catholic, but I've never been like, "OH YOU SHOULD BE CATHOLIC IT'S PERFECT" that's my opinion, and others have a distinct choice in what they want to believe, think, behave, so on. Well, that's kind of my opinion....>>;; I know it's not perfect for everyone...

((2-tails in icon family~ =BloodlustBakura)) "That's why I cleverly have no personal life."
"I'm happy to report that we are now so in sync, we're actually wearing each other's underwear."
"Phew! For a moment there I thought you were smart."
Lol, that stamp is great Perfectly sums up the athiest's point of view. I was reading through the conversation you were having with her, and I wanted to point out something to her about choosing parts of the Bible, since it condemns all sorts of things most people don't know about. She's gone around loads of pictures like yours saying how they're going to hell. I think she needs a taste of her own medicine. So, should I reply to her? Since you said you didn't want anyone to say anything.
Also, I love that bumper sticker, I'd totally have it on my car
but yeah, opinions are meant to be neither right or wrong, and show our personal feelings towards something.
And that's two of the reasons I left religion, the inconsistencies and Borg attitude. "we are the jesus freaks. lower your higher reasoning thoughts and prepare to be assimilated. resistance is futile"
